Yesterday was a busy day. Grocery day is a love/hate thing with me. Years ago, I thought it would save me time if I planned all of my meals for the week and grocery shopped at Wal-Mart & Publix, getting everything in that one day of shopping, except the produce for the 2nd half of the week. I could easily pick that up on the way back from the gym Thursday mornings. Now the idea of getting a few days of stuff here and there sounds more appealing; however, I know it’s not practical.
I did the grocery shopping this way for quite some time, but recently, I find myself dreading it. Perhaps it’s because I have to sit down for a long period of time and go through recipes and choose what I want to make, and then make sure I have everything I need on my grocery list. Maybe I’m just getting lazy with it. So, there were a few weeks lately that I didn’t get around to planning meals, and that resulted in a lot of eating out, which is no bueno for my waistline. So, yesterday morning, I went through my recipes to figure out this week’s meals (discarding ones that I know I won’t cook anymore). My cat, Jasmine, decided to help me… well, not really. She just wanted to lay on my papers.
Once I had finally compiled my grocery list, I headed out the door. I had to stop and get gas, check our P.O. box, go by the health food store for a few items, stop by PetsMart for kitty litter, get a few items at Sam’s, swing by Bath & Body Works for more hand soap, Wal-Mart, and then Publix. It’s funny to me that Sam’s is the only place in which you sometimes have to wait to get out of the store.
Three and a half hours after leaving my house to begin my errands, I arrived home and had to unload everything myself since Alex had decided to lay down for a nap. I hate hauling everything in and putting things away. This is where the hate part of the relationship comes in. I don’t mind the actual shopping at all; I actually enjoy grocery shopping. I just hate putting the stuff away. And since it’s been a few weeks since I really went grocery shopping, I had quite a few things to buy – mostly bigger items.
Here are the new soaps I got a Bath & Body Works. I’m disappointed in the spring selection of soaps they had this time. We’ll see how these smell when it’s time to use them.
I don’t know what’s going on with my right big toe, but by the time I was finished with everything, it was red and throbbing in pain. I decided to post about that topic in a separate post in case you don’t want to see more details about my toe!
